What is the difference between XL-Connector and XL-Connector 365

XL-Connector and XL-Connector 365 are both Excel plug-ins to work with Salesforce, they are just built using two different add-in platforms that Microsoft provides.

XL-Connector is a COM plug-in, which is an older technologies that Microsoft Office used before they came up with web-based add-ins, which XL-Connector 365 is.

In terms of data loading functions – both plug-ins offer the same functionality, just with different UI.

XL-Connector has been around for longer, so we added more Salesforce administrator functions to it, especially around dealing with metadata. For example the following functions are not available in XL-Connector 365:

XL-Connector 365, on the other hand, is a cloud solution, so it offers it's own advantage of being able to work with your Excel files in Sharepoint when Excel is not running. Using XL-Connector 365, you can schedule any sequence of operations against Salesforce data to be executed automatically on a schedule at any time.
